Have you Learned the Basics to Playing by Ear?

Dear Friend,

If you're interested in taking your piano playing to the next level AND lack the strong positive mind set that is absolutely necessary to accomplish this, you should read very carefully as you're piano playing may never be the same...

Just last week, we received a new e-mail from the guys over at HearandPlay.com who specialize in teaching people to play piano by ear.

Long story short:

They have a page that is dedicated to the total beginner and we thought it would be nice to pass it on to you. If you've been struggling to play by ear or just haven't been able to grasp how others are able to do this, you'll defintely want to check out this site.

We noticed one particular section of the article that discussesthe 4 main ATTITUDES or pitfalls that beginning musicians tend to fall into, and thought it was interesting.

The article focuses more on the ways to avoid thinking this way-- so that you will remain on the positive track to reach your musical goals.

Here are just a few of the many examples of what they said (you'll have to check out the article for yourself to get the full story):

This is what it said...

Attitude #1: "Learning songs by myself is too difficult so I'd rather just get the chords from someone else..."

Relying on others to show us chords and progressions is one of the leading causes why we don't move to the next level in our playing. While we might sound, look, and play beautifully, the reality is that we don't understand anything we're playing. Sure enough, we might be playing some of the prettiest "2-5-1"progressions ever heard, but we lack substance ... knowledge ...and the know-how to advance to the next level.

Attitude #2: "Ok... I'll learn the song in 'Ab' major but I'd rather transpose it to all of the other keys..."

This is one of the biggest hindrances known not only to gospel musicians --- but to musicians in general. Why? Because everychord has multiple roles. By just playing in the key of "Ab" or"Eb", you've only used "Abmin9" or "Ebmin11" chords as it relates to those particular keys. But did you know that"Ebmin11" also has a role in the key of "Gb" or even the key of"B" major? It's not that you have to learn a whole new way of playing --- YOU JUST HAVE TO TRANSFORM YOUR MIND TO THINK IN PATTERNS ... that's all.

Attitude #3: ??????????

Attitude #4: ??????????

How to Promote Your Music Successfully on the Internet

Attention Musicians....there is a great book "How to Promote Your Music Successfully on the Internet" that provides you with information you need to begin promoting, selling, and distributing your own music online.

The good think about this book is that it provides proven ideas you can put to use immediately. It doesn't take a ton of money to get started either – that's another great benefit of living in this digital age.

The author of the book is David Nevue, an independent musician just like you, with one difference: In 2004 he used the Internet to generate over $60,000 in income. Hard to believe, isn't it? But it's true. Today he's doing the "music business" full-time from his home in Springfield, Oregon. He now invests his time developing his music rather than spending 40-60 hours a week working for someone else. He's truly an independent musician and you can be too if you learn how to successfully promote your music on the internet

The Internet is an incredible promotional tool for independent musicians. You can get radio play, grow a fan base, create a distribution channel, manufacture and sell CDs all online. You can use the Internet to create an amazing amount of exposure for your music.

Wouldn't it be great if literally thousands of people heard your music every day? What if you could use your web site to sell 50, 100, 200 CDs or more every month? Guess what? It doesn't take a brain-surgeon to make it happen, but it does take a lot of hard work – and you need to know what you're doing.

Therein lies the problem. Most musicians just have no idea where to start when it comes to online promotion and distribution. Some get as far as putting up a web site, but stop there. They aren't sure what the next step should be. That's where this great book...How to Promote Your Music Successfully on the Internet can take you to that next step.
